Flowent Is Live on the App Store and Google Play

Ali Dulaimi

Flowent is live. After a long stretch of building, tuning, and testing with real learners, the app is now available to download on the App Store and Google Play — free, on both iOS and Android.

Flowent is built around a real-time voice agent. Instead of tapping through flashcards, you talk. The agent listens, responds with sub-second turn-taking, and streams its speech back so the conversation feels like a conversation — not a request waiting on a spinner. Under the hood that means full-duplex streaming audio, careful latency budgeting, and a speech pipeline that starts talking before the full response is even generated.

But latency was never the point on its own. The point is immersion. The interaction design is grounded in cognitive-science research on how people actually acquire a language: speaking early, speaking often, and getting feedback in the moment rather than weeks later on a worksheet. Most apps optimise for streaks and points; Flowent optimises for the thing those metrics are supposed to stand in for — getting you talking, and keeping you talking.

Around that voice core sits a full learning system:

  • AI chat, everywhere. A tutor you can talk or type to is woven through the whole app — not a separate tab, but available in lessons, scenarios, stories, and review.
  • An SRS engine. Spaced repetition (SM-2) tracks every word and phrase you meet and resurfaces it right before you'd forget it, so vocabulary actually sticks.
  • Stories for reading and listening. Short stories pitched just above your current level, with audio — and you can generate custom ones on topics you care about.
  • Games. Light, fast practice loops that turn drilling into something you'll actually come back to.

The whole experience adapts its pacing and difficulty to you, so it stays challenging without tipping into discouraging.

If you're learning a language — or know someone who is — give it a try:

See you in the app. This is just the beginning.
